JBF Awards 2026
The JBF Award originated from the ideas of John Blankenstein. John dedicated himself to a sports world where everyone feels the freedom to be themselves. He was truly a figurehead in this.
The JBF Award recognises individuals and organisations that contribute to a more inclusive and accessible sporting world for the LGBTQA+ community. With this award, we celebrate the many great initiatives on this theme and want to highlight the nominated individuals and organisations.
Who deserves this recognition in 2026? We will decide that together! Do you know a person or an organisation that would deserve this award? Submit it!
Who can you nominate?
Any Amsterdam resident can nominate someone. One hard condition: the candidate must live, be based in Amsterdam, or be active within the city. Other than that, anything is possible:
- An individual or an entire organisation
- Voluntary or paid
- Commercial or non-profit
- Known or unknown
The jury mainly looks at impact: has the candidate structurally changed something for sport and exercise in Amsterdam? They also weigh up how long someone has been working, for whom they are making a difference, and what makes their approach special.
How will it continue?
