JBF volunteer Thijs de Greef discusses staying true to yourself in an online guest lecture

Over the past few weeks, teachers, parents and children have achieved a remarkable feat with home schooling. To celebrate the (partial) reopening of primary schools after the May holidays, various (former) top athletes and well-known Dutch personalities will be taking over from the teachers on Friday 24 April.

Over the past few weeks, teachers, parents and children have achieved a remarkable feat with home schooling. To celebrate the (partial) reopening of primary schools after the May holidays, various (former) top athletes and well-known Dutch personalities will be taking over from the teachers on Friday 24 April. This is a token of appreciation for teaching staff in the Netherlands.

UntilThe select group of 35 guest lecturers includes Olympic champion Carlijn Achtereekte, actors Frank Lammers and Victor Reinier, musician Paul de Munnik, DJ Julian Jordan, former Olympic champion Jochem Uytdehaage, actor Viggo Waas, boxing champion Arnold Vanderlyde, Eredivisie referee Kevin Blom, various top hockey players (including JBF volunteer Thijs de Greef), professional footballers from the Eredivisie and professional footballers from the Eredivisie Women.

Appealing, stimulating lesson topics should ensure that pupils are never bored for a second. For example, NOS Langs de lijn reporter Chris Wobben will explain how to give the best commentary in class. Former boxer Arnold Vanderlyde will teach the children how to become the strongest kid on the school playground, and actor Victor Reinier will explain how to catch criminals (for fun). JBF volunteer Thijs de Greef and korfball player Emrys Karlas will talk about how to always stay true to yourself. The complete lesson programme and lesson topics can be found at www.onlinegastles.nl

The fact that teaching staff appreciate this gesture is evident from the huge number of registrations received in just two days. No fewer than 1,600 teachers took advantage of the opportunity to participate in a free online guest lesson with their class, which means that almost 40,000 pupils will receive lessons on Friday morning, 24 April.
