At AAC'61, everyone is welcome!

AAC’61 launched the Safe Changing Room project last week. With this project, they have expressed their intention to be a club for everyone, with a specific focus on young people from the LGBTI+ community.

During the kick-off, all trainers and administrators, together with SportDrenthe and Assen Sportstad, were present to participate in a workshop organised by the John Blankenstein Foundation. Subsequently, an assessment was made of what is needed to ensure that everyone feels welcome within the club. A confidential advisor has been appointed, and discussions are being held about manners within the club. This will be laid down in a code of conduct.

A number of official steps described in the Safe Changing Room project will ultimately be presented in a vignette. The vignette is a means of providing the club with tools to make it truly accessible to everyone. Visibility is essential in this regard. This successful afternoon was concluded by raising the ‘progress’ flag to the applause of the directors and trainers present.

Would your club/municipality like to join ‘the Safe Changing Room’?
On 10 May, we are organising an inspiring meeting with stories from the pilot associations about their experiences. What challenges did they encounter and what were the results? We will reflect on the outcomes of the entire pilot and look ahead together to the continuation of the programme.
