On Monday afternoon, 15 May, our Beau was invited to Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg as a workshop leader for the JBF. The Foundation had been asked to give a workshop for the Sports Economics and Communication students. Around 20 second-year students and a few teachers had gathered to attend the workshop. The workshop was part of a series of inspirational sessions that the programme offers its students. The sessions focus on the personal stories and experiences of experts.
\nDuring the workshop, attention was paid to the abbreviation LGBTI+ and the meaning of the letters. In addition, the students explored the existence and impact of prejudice. Videos were used for this purpose, and the iceberg was used as a metaphor for visible and invisible differences. An example of this was when a student asked Beau what his girlfriend thought about something, and when it turned out that Beau had a boyfriend, this immediately led to a confrontation with prejudice and assumptions.
\nBeau shared their story as a non-binary athlete, which seemed to have an impact on the students and led to many questions. Maandag middag 15 mei mocht onze Beau als workshopleider van de JBF naar het Fontys in Tilburg. De Foundation was gevraagd om hier een workshop te verzorgen voor de Sport Economie en Communicatie studenten. Zo\u2019n 20 tweedejaars studenten en een paar leraren waren bij elkaar gekomen om de workshop bij te wonen. De workshop was onderdeel van een reeks inspiratie sessies die de opleiding aanbiedt aan haar studenten. De sessies focussen op het persoonlijk verhaal en de ervaringen van experts. Tijdens de workshop is er aandacht besteedt aan de afkorting LHBTI+ en de betekenis van de letters. Daarnaast zijn de studenten bezig geweest met het bestaan en de impact van vooroordelen.
