John Blankenstein Foundation

John Blankenstein was one of the best referees on Dutch fields in the 1980s and 1990s. John never made a secret of being homosexual. This put him at the forefront of the football world. John dreamed of a sports world in which everyone felt the freedom to be themselves. In 2008 - two years after John's death - his sister set up a foundation bearing her brother's name to continue his legacy.

Our people

The John Blankenstein Foundation runs entirely on volunteers. The board, all team members and workshop leaders are committed to creating a better sporting environment for LGBTIQ+ people. The board consists of a maximum of six members, chaired by Karin Blankenstein. Our other... confidential advisor.

Our partners

The John Blankenstein Foundation works with sports umbrellas, leagues, governments, associations and the business community to make as much impact as possible.
JBF is a member of EGLSF and FARE
